News & Observer food critic Greg Cox says: Soft corn tortillas, made on the premises, set the South Saunders Street location apart from the others in the family-run chain, and from all the other Mexican restaurants in the Triangle. Worthy companions to these golden disks include carne asada (grilled skirt steak), carnitas (fried pork) and birria (lamb stewed with dried chiles), all available as tacos or in entrée portions. Veracruz style tilapia is excellent, too. Combination plates are reliable but nothing special. Multiple area locations; also affiliated with El Rodeo chain, whose menu is virtually identical.
