The Fayetteville Museum of is staging a major exhibition of thirty-eight of Andy Warhol's works from the Cochran Collection, dating from 1974 through his last series done in 1986. General admission will be charged to view the traveling exhibition of 32 works. The Warhol Store will feature 6 works from the traveling exhibition FREE to the public along with Warhol merchandise for purchase.
Having undergone a huge transformation, the first floor of the Festival Park Plaza builidng presents the viewer with an urban exhibition space much like Warhol's New York studio-- "The Factory". Warhol incited an art revolution by creating a new definition of glitz, glamour, and popular culture. An artist able to perfectly meld commercial America as it relates to the everyday man, Warhol created dynamic and engaging works of art. Executive Director Tom Grubb stated, "The Museum is thrilled about bringing the Cochran Colletion of Andy Warhol's work to Fayetteville. Through this exhibition we seek to add to the excitement generated by the events of the Dogwood Festival and the week after. As Andy Warhol once said, 'they always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.'"
