The Bass Lake Photo Club's Photography Lecture Series presents “Chuck Liddy: Action, Frame, Click: One Photojournalist’s Life,” Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 7-9pm, at the Bass Lake Retreat Center, 557-2496, in Holly Springs. Free. Chuck Liddy will share the various challenges and adventures in a photojournalist’s life as well as the transitions made in the business over the years. He will present many of his award-winning photographs, offer some tips and techniques and answer questions.
Chuck Liddy, 53, has been an N&O staff photographer for over 15 years. In a career spanning over 34 years, Chuck has been published in most major newspapers around the world and received over a hundred photojournalism awards including being nominated for the Pulitzer Prize three times. His work has appeared in magazines including Time, Newsweek, People, ESPN-The Magazine, National Geographic for Kids, and Stern among others.
Assignments have included Hurricanes Fran, Floyd and Katrina, as well as covering conflicts in Haiti, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to covering general news assignments, Liddy has an extensive sports resume having covered hundreds of ACC basketball games, including 13 Final Fours, over 15 ACC Tournaments, innumerable college football contests, bowl games, NFC playoff games, NCAA soccer championships and a Stanley Cup playoff series. He has been a resident of Durham for over 20 years
